About this project
My Daughter, My Wife is a modern farce by Phil Wells and Desiree Nash, two members of the acclaimed New York comedy group SidViscous!. Set in the house of Brett Headright over the course of a very trying weekend, this play explores what happens when a gay single father gets caught in a lie and has to pretend his daughter is his wife whenever these mobsters are around, but can't let his ex-wife or the private investigator she's hired find out what he's up to. So, you know, same old story.
The play goes up this February at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York, NY. Under the artful guidance of director Joe Hendel, this fast-paced yarn with a modern twist will melt your brain and tickle your funny bone simultaneously.
The play's already been scheduled and we poor actors and artists have been covering expenses well enough so far, but the real production costs are about to start piling up. We just need a little help to cover things like paying the director, hiring a light and sound technician, and getting together props and costumes. Really, any little generosity you're willing to show will go a long way toward making this good script into a great play.
The Peoples Improv Theater is the finest comedy-specific venue in Manhattan. In 2011 it was named Best Comedy Theater by the Village Voice, who called it a "comfortable, hip space with a stellar nightly lineup." My Daughter, My Wife will be performed in the PIT's main 99-seat theater, and patrons may also enjoy the establishment's full lobby bar (no drink minimum!), competitively active Ms. Pac Man machine, and free wifi.
Performances of My Daughter, My Wife will be on Tuesdays in February; Feb 7, 21, and 28 at 8PM.

Hi. I'm Phil Wells, a member of SidViscous!. Desiree Nash and I wrote this play really late one night and by the time we passed out we were sure it wasn't going to be as funny in the light of morning. Well, we woke up and it was still funny! We're hoping a million people line up to see it and the world finally recognizes our brilliance.
The comedy group that we're on, SidViscous!, was put together as a house team for the Peoples Improv Theater in 2007 and we've been doing longform improv all over the east coast and making people laugh ever since.
"Energetic and hilarious. SidViscous rocked the house!"
