Dear Patrons,
First all I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming in their kickstarter campaign to bring the Mutants and Masterminds Roleplaying Game supplement Deus ex Historica to life. As you may or may not have heard yet, 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming has recently been acquired by Purple Duck Games. When 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming was acquired one of the products that we had acquired was the unfinished, overdue Deus ex Historica.
I would like to take a few moments to discuss my tentative plans for completing this kickstarter project with you. Here is what I am currently thinking:
First, Purple Duck Games plans to honour all of the terms set out by 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming and all the rewards that you agreed to when you decided to fund this campaign. I am sorry that this project is overdue, but I plan to work to get it back on track as quickly as possible.
- Second, mistakes were made when the project was first planned and its funding did not cover the costs incurred by the project. This is not an uncommon problem for first time kickstarter projects but is a cost that will be assumed by Purple Duck Games. At no point are we expecting you the backers to make up for a planning error. This does not affect you beyond bringing me to item three on this list.
- Thirdly, I would like to start releasing the finished project (in pieces) in PDF format through our vendor sites. We will make a subscription to the whole product available as well. You will receive a coupon code to access the subscription for free and can then access bits of the book at the same time. Non-kickstarters who purchase the subscription will do so at a higher price point than what the people at helpful citizen level paid.
- Fourth, I would like to start updating you more frequently about how this project is coming along. From the kickstater pages it doesn’t look like you have been updated very recently concerning this project, and hopefully Purple Duck Games can correct that.
By making these changes, Purple Duck Games should be able start getting you content sooner rather than later. We will be able to honour your rewards sooner, we will be able to make further payments to the authors for their work, and we can begin the planning stages necessary to evaluate the potential of a follow-up book in this series.
This is the approach I would like to take to help deliver this product in a timely manner. I am curious as to your thoughts on the matter. Please email me and let me know what you think of my revised plan. If there are no serious detractors, I would like to get the subscription up next week and maybe even start delivering content that same week in PDF through our vendors.
Please write me back and let me know at 4WFG@purpleduckgames.com.
Sincerely,
Mark Gedak
