An exhibition of 228 portraits & images from World Naked Bike Ride Chicago 2009,10,11 & 12, celebrating the courageous participants.
The Project
We are raising funds to print and exhibit 228 never-before-exhibited portraits from World Naked Bike Ride Chicago 2009 through 2012. The photographer behind this project, Baramesi, is a pioneer in Chicago's contemporary nightlife photography scene since 1996 and has been documenting and supporting World Naked Bike Ride Chicago since 2007. Unbending in the face of pressure and criticism for not posting these images on the web, he has been waiting for the right moment to exhibit these striking images as prints that can truly honor the courage of the participants. After three years nearly 400 WNBR-C tastemakers have collaborated in this comprehensive collection in support of positive body image and freedom of expression.
The Sponsors
As a portrait sponsor you will receive curatorial credit for each image you sponsor or can remain anonymous if you choose. Funds raised will go towards the printing of two images, one for the permanent collection and one for a person in the portrait. Funds raised also pays for the exhibit space and reception. We hope to get enough sponsors so that each person in each portrait receives a print. The amount set is the minimum necessary to make this exhibit and reception happen. With additional funding, we will be able to print more portraits and make the exhibit and reception even more of a celebration. Sponsors will receive an email with a link to the image gallery where they will indicate the image/images they wish to sponsor.
The Art
The images will be exhibited as postcards, hand-mounted artographs, and poster-sized art works. All the people in the portraits are invited to be guests of honor and can receive their sponsored artwork after the exhibit. The exhibit brings together sponsors, WNBR-C participants, art enthusiasts, and supporters of positive body image and freedom of expression.
