A new and very free adaptation of Bulgakov's novel for two interchangeable actors. We're traveling to the Prague and Minnesota Fringe Festivals.

Andy North and Kurt Hartwig have written an original adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's classic Soviet satire THE HEART OF A DOG (http://books.google.com/books...), updating it with some U.S. history (http://www.slate.com/id/2239551/) for current relevance, in which a brilliant scientist transplants the pituitary gland and testicles of a recently deceased man into the body of a very sweet dog. The dog transforms into a horrible man with a passionate hatred of cats.

There are five characters and only the two actors. We trade roles according to which character enters a scene next and identify these people visually through the use of simple props and costume pieces. Furthermore, we are both memorizing the entire play, and which of us begins the play as the unfortunate dog will be the audience's selection.

We have been accepted to perform this new work at the Prague (http://www.praguefringe.com/2010/) and Minnesota (http://www.fringefestival.org/) Fringe Festivals. We are rehearsing in our living rooms and around furniture.

The money will go to defray the costs of travel (plane fare, accommodation, and food), particularly for the Prague leg of the trip in May.
