Dear Supporters of "Some of My Best Friends"
This is to say that I have not forgotten you. The film you so generously supported is finally getting made, and to prove it, I'm going to post a segment that I think will interest many and maybe all of you: an interview with Jesse Lieberfeld and his parents, Daniel and Judith. Jesse is the 11th grader in Pittsburgh who won the Martin Luther King Jr Day Writing Award in January for an essay applying Martin Luther King's ideas to his personal experience as an American Jew.
It seems likely that when the whole film finally appears, it will be under a different title. I could do worse than use the phrase that Judith uses to describes her son's essay: "A Gift from the Young." If people have other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

I agree with Jill. You should not change the name, it is provocative and eye catching, not to mention also a great conversation piece. People with closed minds that would be offended by the title will do so anyway because of the subject. Many others though would be intrigued by it and will want to find out more about it.

big mistake to change the name... please don't. don't be frightened. I'm the one who convinced my ex-student, Peter Richardson, to call his HBO film about death with dignity "How to Die in Oregon". HBO fought it like crazy but finally gave in... they're very happy about it now.
