Our industrial band would like to make a music video. Location, costumes, filmmaker, the whole 9 yards and we need some money to do it
Darker Days Tomorrow is a synthpop/industrial band from Denver, Colorado and we have just released our third album, False Prophets. With the music industry slowly circling the drain, we are embracing the power of the internet to get our music out to the masses. Part of that is making a great music video to post on YouTube and hopefully get played on Mtv 2, or whichever Mtv actually plays music anymore. There is always Much Music (the Canadian Mtv) which is pretty awesome as well. We need a little bit of money to rent the most amazing location for the right amount of creepiness factor (a five story clock tower) , some costumes (Victorian era), editing software and even pay a burgeoning film student for his cinematic expertise.
We have a script ready to go, I have even spent a few hours making stick figure storyboards ( I saw that in the "making of" portion of Lord of the Rings, you needs them, they are PRECIOUS) and have extras and props. I would like to do what we can to keep this from looking like a home movie and be something to fulfill that childhood bucket list dream of being in a music video. Actually the dream was to be an Mtv VeeJay, but I don't think those exist anymore. Being in a video is way cooler anyway.
Thank you very much for checking us out, we really appreciate it.
I will leave you with some useless trivia about myself, in case you haven't had enough of my quirkiness yet.
Favorite music video- Nine Inch Nails' "Perfect Drug"
Best music video that should have been a miniseries- Meatloaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love (but I Won't Do That)
Best literal music video (google this if you don't know what it is, it's hysterical)- Bonnie Tyler "Total Eclipse of the Heart" FONZIE'S BEEN CLONED
Scariest music video- Aphex Twin "Come to Daddy" be prepared not to sleep for a week.
First music video crush- Information Society "What's on Your Mind"
That's all, I'm done babbling. Have a great day.
I have always been enamored with the idea and symbolism of Plague Doctors, and since the Steampunk scene has made it ok to include those in Victorian era visuals, we have taken that idea and ran. We start with things in the past all sepia toned and 1900's period based costumes then through some tragic events, the band and the plague doctor are transported into modern times. There is displacement as this creepy guy in a bird head mask roams Denver and the band members try to deal with what has happened. Plus there are children in gas masks. Hopefully we get enough in Kickstarter to pay for their therapy later in life.
