Monster in the Marsh was a BASIC game designed by Joey Latimer. It was Zen-like in its simplicity: you, monster, swamp, bag of rocks.
Monster in the Marsh was a game conceived during the 1980s. Zen-like in its simplicity, the game used 1-out-of-3 and 2-out-of-3 probabilities to create true feelings of menace, uncertainty and isolation.
Armed with just a bag of rocks, players would need to toss a rock in one of three different directions to find a safe path (the monster was chasing from the other direction).
I was lucky enough to be able to contact the creator of Monster in the Marsh, Joey Latimer, and he's given me permission to launch an app version. Pending artwork and a twice-over with a Corona SDK expert, the app will be ready for submission to Apple for approval. The basic version is ready to go but I am also working on additional gameplay involving found objects like beat-up life jackets, rocket shoes, bags of rocks, lucky medallions, and more.
So far I've spent about $1500 on Apple hardware, a monitor, Corona SDK Pro, Lime, and ParticleCandy and TextCandy. The end is in sight, but my artist would like $100 for two drawings (mine show up at the end - you can see I'm not an artist) and Corona SDK help is costly as well.
For a full-sound version, please check out youtube.com/monsterinthemarsh (I figured I'd be thrifty and not spend on sound-recording software). As soon as this project is approved there will be a link in the movie description to take you back here if you think it's a project worth backing. I do! :) Thanks so much for your time.
