An independent documentary that combines a good old fashioned road trip and America's fascination with cryptozoology.

ABOUT:

Cryptotrip, from the director of The Death of Andy Kaufman is the first documentary of its kind.  Sure, there are countless programs and films about cryptozoology, but which of these gives the eyewitnesses more than a minute or two to speak before inundating the viewer with flashy B-roll, reenactments, and aimless hunts through the woods?  None.  That's how this film is different.  We've set out to travel across the United States, visiting people who have had incredible encounters with creatures they can't explain or identify, and giving them a chance to tell their stories.  Thousands of unexplained creature sightings are reported in this country each year.  What are people seeing?  How do these sightings impact the eyewitnesses?  What is our fascination with this topic?  Cryptotrip sets out to answer these questions and take a look at America in a whole new way.  So far, we've visited several different states and have edited together about an hour of more or less finished footage.  But what film about creature sightings would be complete without a trip to Bigfoot country?  We only have one journey left, and it's the most important one yet - a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where Bigfoot has been seen more times than anywhere else in America.  We just need a little more dough to get there...

WHO'S IN IT?

Many people have appeared on camera to tell their story and discuss creature sightings with us.  Here is an incomplete list.

Loren Coleman is the most well known cryptozoologist on the planet, and the founder of the world's only International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.  He is the author of over 35 books and has appeared in numerous television programs and films.

Pastor Robin Swope is a seminary-trained exorcist and creator of the popular blog, The Paranormal Pastor.  He has had encounters with a Thunderbird, UFOs, ghosts, and phantom black cats.

Duane Hodgkinson is a WWII veteran and the most celebrated eyewitness of what many refer to as a living dinosaur.  While stationed in Papua New Guinea during the war, he saw something that haunts him to this day.

William Bartlett, an artist from Massachusetts, was 17 when he encountered what is now known as the Dover Demon.  His story (and sketch of the creature) have propelled this being into popular culture.

Where Your Money Goes:

Final trip to Bigfoot Country - We've traveled to many different spots within the United States thus far, but our last mountain to climb is perhaps the most important.  The Pacific Northwest is synonymous with Bigfoot sightings, which is what fuels the current popularity of cryptozoology.  Without a journey to this area to speak with eyewitnesses and explore the region where the Big Guy lives, this film is incomplete.  In order to make this last trek, we need a chunk of cash for travel expenses.

Film Festival Submissions - You wanna see it, don't you?

How Kickstarter (and your donations) Works:

It's pretty simple.  Just decide how much you want to pitch in (take a gander at those awesome rewards!) and then pledge your amount.  At the end of the campaign, if the total meets our goal, the credit cards of the people who pledge are charged so that we receive the funds.  If the goal isn't met, we don't get anything.  There is a 5% fee for Kickstarter and 3-5% fee for Amazon credit card processing fee, but other than that, it all goes to finishing Cryptotrip.  Oh yeah, if what is pledged exceeds the goal, all the extra money goes to Cryptotrip, too.
