"Made in Namibia" tells the story of increasing Chinese presence in the sparsely populated southern-African country. It's a story of frustration, hope, and prospects for the future. We hope you take a look at our video and description to learn more about the film we're making.

For the past six months, we have been researching the effects of Chinese investment on developing economies. We have been covering everything from state-sponsored oil drilling to small, independent entrepreneurs. We found that Namibia was the perfect case-study for the combination of these.

After hundreds of hours of reading up on this topic, we decided to scrap the idea of writing an academic article (since who enjoys reading them anyway) and instead go there for five weeks in July and August 2012 to film a documentary on the phenomenon. Not only will this give us a first-hand perspective, but it will also bring this topic to mass audiences and help re-frame the ongoing debate on the rise of China.

Namibia is a country already on the path towards success, and documentary films like ours are overdue. Please help us make this film a success and bring a relatively unknown country to the public eye.
