About this project
Jason Squirrel Starts A Company is our children's book about a little squirrel who is tired of having to come home everyday and collect nuts. So he sets out on an adventure to create a nut collecting company. Along the way he meets friends who don't support him, the challenge of raising funds, and the difficulties in running a business. The book itself is a 30 page color illustrated children's book targeted at the early reader group.
When I was young I never even had the idea that I could start my own business. It wasn't until I was older and in college that I realized it would be possible. Since then I thought there should be more books for younger children that talk about building your own company. So my good friend Jason and I started this project years ago and have been tweaking it and updating it ever since. He's done some amazing illustrations for the book, and I've re-written the story about 100 times.
We're finally ready to self publish our book and we're going to use kickstarter to fund it. All of the money raised will go to editing, layout, and production of both the hard and softcover version of the book. With your help we should be able to get both versions of the book printed and out into the world. Who knows it may help a whole new generation of young entrepreneurs.

I'm an Electrical Engineer, and Entrepreneur who has been working on various start ups since 1996. I moved to North Carolina for another start up in 2008 only to lose my job when that company went under last year. Currently I'm making just enough money to pay my bills at a new technology company building a system to help families take care of their elderly relatives.
In my spare time I do projects with my friends like the children's book Jason and I are trying to get started here. Jason and I have been friends for as long as I can remember and he was my best man in 2008 when I married my college love Melissa on the Outer Banks. I'm an only child, but I have a large and supportive family especially my parents Frank and Claire, a Marine Biologist, and Librarian respectively.
