Update #1: Happy Monday
Dear People of Distinction,
First up: happy Monday and a million thank-yous for having faith in our film thus far. This Kickstarter thing is a phenomenal manifestation of everything that's great about the digital democracy and cardinal creativity - a way for (if I may say so) top-notch content to get off the ground if enough people believe it should, and for those believers to become a part of its evolution, while allowing its creators to side-step the slow and frankly uninspiring trajectory of traditional production strategies.
POW!
Now back to the matter at hand: once the Kickstarter funding for Your I.D. Please! is complete, my dear DoP Frank Kalero and me are ready to head to New Orleans to shoot our trailer with the extraordinary Louis Q of the high-stepping Grambling State Tigers marching band. His uniform is frankly phenomenal - and the story behind it a mind-melting epic that makes your soul singsong (to be fully revealed in the documentary of course!)
With this trailer we - or rather our ball-breaking producer Danielle Guirguis of Smarhouse Films - can pitch for the production budget to shoot our remaining three stories in Japan, South Africa and the UK.
We need your help to spread the love along by sharing this link, or tapping the little blue "Like" and encouraging others to do the same.
19 days to go. Let's do this thing!
Thanks so much once again and have a marvelous Monday,
Lotje
p.s. I couldn't help but notice the Asha Brass Band in their bodacious outfits over at Tomorrow We Disappear. Swoon!
