About this project

Dwayne (48), and Chris (23), are two road construction workers flagging for non-existent vehicles on a desolate dirt intersection, in the middle of the desert. The monotony of their day is violently interrupted when an object from the sky comes crashing to earth, dangerously close to Chris' head. The comedic nature of the story takes a dark and thrilling turn when the two discover what the "space object" really is, and are forced to face their own morality.

"Intersection" is short dark comedy taking place in the desolate landscape of the American Southwest. It is a satire about greed, religion, and the human experience. The inspiration for the story and two characters in the film come from the director's personal experience working road construction during the summers of his high school and college years, in his home town in rural, Northwestern Colorado.

So far we have submitted the script to one festival, mostly because it was an early draft and we wanted a little feedback. It ended up winning and was performed on stage by professional actors at the Canadian Film Board Theater in Toronto, Canada.

Right now we are in the midst of pre-production. We have some very capable people who are on board to help make this. Jonathan Wolf from Moonlit Images (www.moonlitimages.com) is producing alongside the very capable Alex Conner. We also have the very experienced and talented Colin Arndt on board as Cinematographer. We have a fairly extensive network of friends who will be willing to help out for little to no money. Even with all this help, we are still in dire need of financial support.

The film itself is very simple. There are only two characters, and a handful of locations, all in the Mojave desert region in southern California. There is a special FX scene that includes an explosion as the mysterious object crashes to earth. We want to make this scene as realistic as possible, and in order to do that, it will take some extra money. Besides this FX shot, we have to pay for locations, insurance, a grip truck with equipment, camera gear, hotels, and tasty food for our hard working crew...it adds up fast! All in all, our initial budget for "Intersection" stands at $30,000.

Now 30 grand sounds like a ton of dough, and it is...We certainly don't have that much laying around to fund this movie. We would like to set our sights on $12,000 to raise on kickstarter. If we can raise more than that, it'd be incredible, but $12,000 would be a huge advantage to get things rolling.

We have a ton of great incentives for everyone who donates...from copies of the completed film, to custom "Intersection" tee-shirts and hats, to even an all access pass to one of the festivals it screens at!

We know this project has the potential to be an incredible short film, and with your help, it will be something we can all be proud of.

Thanks so much for checking this out! Let's make a movie!
