I would like to give you an update on the plastic game tray insert for Cartoona.
The manufacturer designed a standard vac-tray insert to hold all of the components for the box. I was not happy with the same old, square holes that many games come with, especially after seeing great, but simple tray design like that seen in games like Lords Of Waterdeep.
Below is a video I made for our manufacturer to demonstrate what I want for Cartoona to hold the cards and player markers.
As you can see, this design gives two distinct advantages.
1. You can keep the player markers in their own compartment which prevents them from getting thrown around, and mixed up in the box.
2. The platform in the tray acts as a folcrum making the cards easy to remove by simply pressing down on one end of the deck.
Having to pry at cards to remove them has always been a pet peeve of mine since it results in lost time, bent cards and frustration.
I'm working to ensure that Cartoona is as frustration free as we can make it.
I know it's a small thing, but I hope this sort of tray design will be a welcome benefit.
