About this project
Epaulettes
I have been designing and creating jewelry for a few years now, making the usual: bracelets, rings, necklaces, and earrings. One day I really wanted to wear a piece of jewelry that would transform a simple dress that I had and that was the first piece of shoulder jewelry that I made. Once people started to see those pieces the demand to make them skyrocketed.
After being on the design competition show I knew that I had to dive deeper into this line. Unfortunately I didnt win and dont have the funding for this project and need your help.
With the help of you and Kickstarter I can raise the money that I need to create the samples, have them photographed and to help create the linesheets and lookbooks which is a must for any new line. Being an artist can be tough on the finances but the support of everyone is what makes it all worth it!
I truly appreciate any help that you guys can give! I'm excited to share this journey with you! Updates will be posted on my webpage: www.ninacortes.com, my twitter: www.twitter.com/ninacortes and soon the line that you helped to create will be on www.ninaloren.com
Thank you!
Nina
FAQ
-
It is one of the pieces that I pretty much never take off.
It's a delicate Sterling Silver chain with Three Semi-Precious Stones in the center. The three stones lay right at the crook of your neck. It's the perfect piece to layer with your favorite necklaces or to wear alone for a delicate touch.
In the survey at the end, I will give options for the stones. (i.e. amethyst, garnet, peridot, etc.) The stones are 3mm and the chain is 16" with a 2" extender.

Connected as Nina Cortes (1466 friends)
I was born, Caroline Cortés, in Miami, Florida to a Cuban Family. My brother was the one who gave me the nickname Nina, and before we knew it, “Caroline” was out the door. I started out as a major tomboy that played in the dirt and fought with the boys, then turned into the “popular cheerleader” in high school. While trying to sort out who I was as a person, the one thing that I tended to overlook was my creativity. I believed that creativity was for play and entertainment, but nothing more. I followed the prescribed plan for me: Go to college get a job. I struggled to find courses that appealed to me, finally settling on using the collection of classes that I had accumulated and graduated with a Bachelors of Liberal Studies.
While I was at my University I took a jewelry and metalsmithing class, and I finally felt that I had a connection with something. I began created jewelry as a hobby and before I knew it I was selling my jewelry to friends and family. Once I was doing what was meant to be, things snowballed. I signed on with a business partner and within two years I had a studio, then a store. I’m happier than I have ever been, this is what I’m meant to be doing. I’m a designer
