We're biking through Africa whilst making a live online video adventure series.
No plan survives the battle... In the first couple weeks of biking and filming Africa, I went to the hospital, lost the majority of my equipment and basically all my work, including two complete video episodes.
Along with losing a lot of equipment, living expenses have been more expensive than anticipated. A pound of pasta is more expensive here than in a Manhattan bodega! To bring episodes 4-6 to life, we're going to need help. Here's how we anticipate spending the $3000:
In Africa, internet is expensive: $5 / day * 60 = $300.
Replacement sounds equipment: (Zoom H4N & shotgun mic) = $500.
Replacement lens: $600.
Hard drives: $300.
Memory cards: $100.
Laptop: $800.
Power Gels: $500. (kidding)
Obviously, this venture has cost a lot more than $3000. If you like what you see, a little can take us a long ways - we are quite poor!
Episode Two is in the can. We've captured cute African kids, the cure for AIDS, Africa's Narnia and Peace Corp Volunteers at their best. We're seeking an internet tube wide enough to get the video stateside, so stay tuned to www.toAddis.com!
