The acting debut of musician Tom Brosseau - a lonesome, hallucinogenic trip to California desert town Wonder Valley.
We need your help to finish a short film we made last year called "Wonder Valley."
"Wonder Valley" is a 20-minute film about a man who encounters unnerving echoes of his past in the titular California desert town. It's a film about being in a lonely place, both physically and mentally, and a surreal exploration of the idea that your problems and preoccupations follow you wherever you go.
It's written by Patrick Strange (former managing editor of Filter magazine), shot by Justin Kane, directed by Andrew van Baal (Largo, The Good Life), and marks the acting debut of musician Tom Brosseau.

We shot and edited the movie last year, and now we need some money to finish it. Specifically, we need money for these things:
SOUND DESIGN & MIXING
This is the most crucial and expensive thing we need money for - creating the movie's sonic world. Sound designers and mixers are the unknown architects of a film's believability and emotional impact; without their detailed and nuanced work the drama of a film is, in Tom's words, "embarrassing to watch."
COLOR CORRECTION & TAPE TRANSFERS
Color correction is a crucial process that defines (and can drastically alter) the look of the film after it's been shot. "Wonder Valley" is not just set in a strange and beautiful desert world, it's about that world. So we need to use color correction to dial in Wonder Valley's white-hot days and deep, dark nights.
MUSIC LICENSING FEES
The songs in the film - both the pieces that act as score and the old records Tom listens to that help articulate his feelings - weren't made specifically for us. They're all pre-existing recordings by great artists like Tin Hat Trio, Joe Meek and Patsy Cline (among others). We need to pay these artists to have the legal right to use their songs in the film.
GRAPHIC DESIGN WORK
We need to create posters, postcards and other visual material to promote the film at festivals and online.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH THE FILM WHEN IT'S FINISHED?
First - you're gonna see and own it. Backers at any level will be the first to check out the film and have digital and DVD copies of it in early May.
After that it's going to screen at special events and film festivals throughout spring, summer and fall.
Finally, in late fall, it'll end up online, streaming and downloadable in glorious high-def for all the internet world to see.
