About this project

This video here is a little flipcam mashup of the new song "Dirty," written by Karlie and myself, to be featured on "Concrete Cradle," the new EP Things I Wonder is working on.  The main track/audio was taken at Joe's Pub earlier this year.  We'd very much like to record and release this song for proper.  If you are feeling it, we'd love your hand in bringing this to life.

Taking their talents to "Concrete Cradle"... Chris Parrello - Electric/Acoustic Guitars/Ukulele/Compositions, Karlie Bruce - Vocals/Lyrics, Kevin Thomas - Acoustic Bass, Aviv Cohen - Drums, Rubin Kodheli - Cello, Hagar Ben Ari - Electric Bass, Tyler Wood - Synths.  Really such an amazing group of musicians here :)

In addition to "Dirty," "Concrete Cradle" will feature a rocking guitar trio zep vibe called "No People," a ukulele/vox/cello tape loop piece called "Broken Windows," and the title track, a pretty ditty, woody and warm.

To Whom It May Concern, my lovely muso brethren - I've been experimenting/writing quite a bit in the DADGAD tuning.  It's very lovely and open, been favored by various folk traditions over the years (I am not an expert on much of this...).  For me, DADGAD wiped a slate clean and freed my mind and ears, to explore, somewhat blindly on the instrument itself, but with musical compass intact.  I've found it all pretty inspiring.  There is no standard tuning on "Concrete Cradle."

A good bit of the tracking for "Concrete Cradle" was done back in February, but there are still bows to be tied, as well as "Broken Windows" to be realized.  The EP then needs to be mixed and mastered.  Then duplicated.  Then publicized. And toured behind.  And... it doesn't really stop.  The cost of putting artwork out into the word right now is high, and it puts a pair of terrifically feisty handcuffs on the artist.  Which is why we come here.  Because it is what we do - Make records.  It's what we have to do, to make a morning worth waking up to.  If the love we put in, the music we make, touches you, inspires you to be creative, please play a part in helping us make it happen.  We'll be so thankful.
