Tim and Roberta, we received today's email about the Project Update #26. I'm confused. Does your letter mean, then, that there will be no showing of Polar Express/Wonderful Life for all of us on Friday or Monday? Or just that we need not reply to number of people and preference? Open to all instead?

Proud to donate to your cause...and taking great inspiration from your project...as my family and I are taking on our own massive, historic theater restoration project in Plainview, Texas....bringing back a 1929 movie palace that my grandfather was a partner in for several years. It featured an atmospheric ceiling (twinkling stars/clouds) and a unique, Spanish courtyard (with the feeling of being outdoors). We purchased it a month ago and have been working on the ground floor of details, financing, etc., when we found out about Kickstarter. We are launching our project this week (just waiting on the Amazon set-up to kick in) and wanted to support your cause thanks to the inspiration it has provided us. We have a Facebook page set up for Granada Theater Plainview and would encourage anyone interested in preservation and revitalization to visit our page if you "LIKE" these type of projects. We endeavor to bring our theater all the way back and be able to inspire others as well! So pleased to participate as a FRIEND.....so happy to contribute in far exceeding your goal....and hope to visit you sometime in the future. - Darryl Holland, Owner, Granada Theater, Plainview, Texas

Was glad to pitch in to become a "chairperson" haha... I have shared our story of the Catlow with many people but here it is one more time... My mom and dad lived above the theater in 1962 after their wedding 10/13/62 (celebrating 50 years next month!!) Dad would often sit on the rooftop on a hot summer night and share a beer and a smoke with the beloved projectionist, Jim Hollister, Jim would roll the film and step out for a chat and a beverage......I too remember being up there as a very young kid and sitting with my then "new" dad and his buddy... ahhh the wonderment of the experience. After seeing so many fond memories fade away from Lipofsky's, Berts, aka Last National Bank, Esh's Drug Store ..I am pleased to see the passion to preserve this historic treasure. Thank you for your commitment!! My donation is in honor of my parents, Carol and Joe Waldin, with love!

Happy to contribute and save another historic cinema! There's another Illinois theater that is trying to raise some funds through Kickstarter that I'm sure would be grateful if you could give them a mention to your followers. The Midway Drive-In is trying to raise funds for a digital conversion as well. They're located about three hours away from the city, and it's a gorgeous drive-in. Please check out their Kickstarter, thanks for your time! Can't wait to visit the Catlow for the first time in the near future! www.kickstarter.com/projects/782168802/save-the-midway-drive-in

Hi Tim & Roberta...We lived in Barrington for 27 years, raised our daughters there & saw a lot of movies at the Catlow....the first one being "Mousetrap". We were on a house hunting trip in Barrington in 1982 & we fell in love with the historic Catlow. We have so many fond memories of the theater along with loving all those great sandwiches at Boloneys....staffed by the nicest, friendliest people in the nation...thank you, Roberta!
We are now living in Sarasota FL & all our daughters are away from Barrington as well but we all still talk with nostalgia about both the Catlow & Boloneys....we are so happy to join the fundraising effort to "Save the Catlow"...a lovely respite from the multi-plex cinemas.
Best wishes to you both...Mary Kay & Jeff Crotty

Hi Ben, I will try to help you out, but all the credit goes to our backers. We are very fortunate to be located in an amazing area. Barrington and the surrounding communities have a deep affection for The Catlow. Their outpouring of support and quick response to our 'digital dilemma' caught us off guard... That's why our Kickstarter campaign is still going on - we thought that we would need the full 60 days to meet our goal! If you have a Facebook presence, both personal and for the drive-in, you could post a link for your followers. We also have a Catlow email list to keep our patrons informed with our Showtimes and any other theater related news. Beyond that, I don't know what else to say. It was all them... They sent out the word that we needed help and everyone banded together to bail us out. I'll send you a donation and put a link to your Kickstarter page on our Facebook page and try to help you out. I would hate to see any theater go under because of a forced change that exhibitors have no control over. Best of luck to you! -Tim

Hello Tim, first I want to thank you for what you've done. Not only have you saved your historic theatre, but you've been a huge inspiration to many others. You may not know it, but your success with this campaign spurred us to create a Kickstarter campaign of our own. My family runs a small drive in movie theatre in central illinois, one of the last in the state. Our fundraising efforts over the course of the year made a dent in our quest to convert our two screens to digital, but our efforts looked very bleak until I read a newspaper article about your theatre on facebook. It inspired me, and gave me hope that this could be accomplished, even by a small theatre like ours. I hope you don't mind, but I copied many of the rewards you used to champion your campaign to success. Your wording, format, and passion carried through to me and I pledged the support I could. I hope that maybe you can help us also. We are merely days away from our deadline, September 28th, and only 20% to our goal. We are not located in a very populous area, so many of our donors don't have the opportunity to visit our establishment. Would it be possible to have you help promote our kickstarter with your donors? I know it is a lot to ask of you, and I don't want to take away any of the acclaim you've worked so hard to accomplish. I am simply asking for help from someone I really admire. At the very least, please let me know what helped you kickoff your fundraising and make such an impressive leap in so short a time span. Thank you for any help you can offer, and for being my inspiration. Here is our campaign: just search Harvest Moon

Ok. Thanks Mary! We have had complaints that it wasn't loud enough at times. Then we've had complaints that it is too loud. The digital sound should fix that, especially with any dialog featuring an accent. It should be much clearer and easier to understand.

I don't live in Barrington any more, but I make sure to get over to the Catlow once in a while (takes about 1/2 hour from Mt. Prospect). I'm excited to see a movie with the new pristine digital projector. Congratulations on making the goal so quickly -- I knew Barrington wouldn't let you down! You've got 48 days to go -- I hope you get enough to do all the work the building needs to keep you guys going for years to come.

(Oh... and one more vote for NO 3-D. It's a sideshow and a distraction from great film making. No need for it.)

Can't wait to see a digital movie at the "NEW" Catlow Theater, as I still only live 20 minutes away!

We spend a lot of time in Frankfort, MI where there is another historic theater, similar to the Catlow, called the Garden Theater. They have already under gone many of the renovations that the Catlow is considering. One of which was new seating, and they did in fact sell the old seats to help cover the cost of the new comfy ones. It's always refreshing to see how local communities rally around the things that are important to their hearts. We are so glad to see the support that you have gotten thus far. Congratulations!!! We love the Catlow!!!
