Imagine a beautiful wooden jigsaw puzzle, with pieces shaped like birds and leaves, using an image of my dyed fabric art!
COLOR! COLOR! COLOR!
My work as a fiber artist is all about color, and I plan to make a glorious jigsaw puzzle, which will be a delicious experience for young and old alike.
Wooden jigsaw puzzles are much more exciting than the cardboard puzzles you're probably familiar with. Each piece of the puzzle is unique, and many of them are in the shape of objects or animals. The pieces fit together precicely, making for a very satisfying experience. I aim to create a puzzle where every piece, as well as the over-all image, is aesthetically pleasing. This will be a joy to put together!
I’ve done quite a bit of research, including buying puzzles from various people who are currently making them, and have identified Liberty Wooden Puzzles as a company that produces truly fine puzzles. Check out their website to get some idea of the images and cut patterns they use. They use lasers to cut 1/4” thick maple plywood, which makes for a very sturdy interlocking puzzle.
For this, my first foray into the world of wooden puzzles, I’ll be getting a modestly-sized puzzle made. It’ll be 9 1/4” wide, 12 1/2” long, and have 254 pieces. A bit challenging, but not a weeks-long project to put together. This puzzle will be satisfying, an heirloom-quality puzzle great to do with family and friends.
I've tried to put a picture on this blurb of the hanging I'm planning on using, but can't figure out how to upload an image directly, so instead I've posted the image on my website. Click here for the image and some words about the piece.
OK, so how do you get one? Oh, I'm SO glad you asked! You can pre-order a puzzle by pledging $60 or more now. Later (if I have extras) I’ll be selling them for $65 plus shipping costs. Kickstarter folks will get theirs as soon as I can sign ‘em and send ‘em out, perhaps as early as late October.
I’ve also got some other rewards worth mentioning. Over the years, I’ve produced some really nice notecards, and am offering sets of these as thank-yous and rewards. As Kickstarter supporters, you’re getting these cards at a bit of a discount, plus free shipping. You can check them out here. For a bit more money, you can get a couple patch pillows with your puzzle, or a framed improvisational hanging, or even a quilt! Check out my website to familiarize yourself with the possibilities, or to see more of me and my work. The available quilts are shown in the store, and the best place to get an idea of my small framed hangings is in the gallery section of the site.
I'm also offering a sweet little reward for $4 -- a refrigerator magnet made from an actual wooden piece of the puzzle. Check out update #2 for more info.

Pledge enough for both rewards (in the example above, $80), and select one of the rewards you want (probably the puzzle, since there are a limited number). Then send me a message, telling me you want the magnets too. I'll put you on my own personal list, and you'll get your magnets and a puzzle.

Yes! (although not right away, sorry!) Go to my website, www.colorquilts.com and click on "visit the store". You'll be able to figure it out from there. I'm currently out of puzzles, but will get more produced. If you want to give one for the holidays, I'll quickly send you a card and magnet to give your recipient, and then send the puzzle when it's ready.
