Crafting an inspirational statue of Tom Hanks to uplift the morale of Oakland Public High School Students everywhere!

Public Art. It is amazing and everywhere. But how can it help the children?

Thousands of Oakland Public High School students everywhere are desperately seeking inspiration in a crazy world. Where will they look? What will they do? Perhaps the answer lies in the form of public art sculpture.

In 2010 our research indicated that the average morale of high school students was on a steep decline.  As artists, we asked ourselves: how can we, as artists, help this critical situation?  The answer was clear: we needed to create a project that uplifts and inspires Oakland High School Students in every possible way.

And so our project was born.

Unfortunately, public art sculpture is an expensive endeavor.  The basic costs alone can boggle the mind, such as:

- Labor

- Supplies

- Paint

- Administration

- Outreach

- Fixatives

In order to achieve our goal we’ve decided to invite you to help us uplift students in this very special way. By carrying out our concept to its full fruition, we can make Oakland students the best they can be.  But we need your support.  Won’t you help us?
