Update #10: THANK YOU!
We did it! No, YOU did it!! With your generous support we reached our $10,000 pledge goal. We even met it with a couple days to spare. One reason why our campaign succeeded was because you told your friends about the film. And your friends told their friends.
Your support has covered the cost of airfare for the Meerkat production crew to travel to Serbia, with a little left over to go towards our homestays in Guča.
We have a long road ahead of us - hundreds of hours editing, marketing campaigns, more fundraising, etc., etc. But we couldn't be more excited about each step to completion. If you liked the trailer we promise you'll love the finished film!
Check our website often for updates and news from Guča - www.brasslands.com. And keep spreading the word. Thanks again for your support!
Update #9: Party/Fundraiser TONIGHT
This Thursday, July 1st (TODAY), we'd be honored if you'd join us and friends at Pacific Standard in Park Slope, Brooklyn, to help drink our way to financial and filmic success. A percentage of the proceeds at the bar will go towards our production costs, so you'll know the dollars you already throw at this city on a regular basis will now be funding a worthwhile cause!
We will be screening a new, never-before-seen trailer of the film, selling our hot new Meerkat Media t-shirts and baked goods to make your stomach say "thank God there's something other than alcohol in me."
Come say hi, watch the trailer, and have a drink or seven!

Update #8: Music Provided by:
We have been hard at work making arrangements to meet, interview and film a handful of Balkan bands with international recognition. These bands will be headlining shows at the Guca stadium, the largest festival venue that accommodates 10,000's of screaming fans.
Of the four bands we've been talking to, only one is a traditional Balkan brass band. How far will this year's festival stray from it's roots? We will soon find out. . .

Update #6: Featured in indieWIRE Magazine!
We are proud to announce that we've been featured in indieWIRE magazine, one of the top sources for independent film news and buzz. Each week, they feature a select few of their favorite upcoming films - Brasslands recently caught their attention!
indieWIRE is a fantastic publication to be noticed by: it was lauded as a "must read" by Variety, branded the "online heartbeat of the world's independent film community" by Forbes, dubbed "best indie crossroads" by film critic Roger Ebert, and Entertainment Weekly writes that "the straightforward no-nonsense reporting most sites lack can be found here in abundance."
