What I want to do:

I want to go to Mexico City to draw and photograph what I observe there.  I want to wander around the city and draw and photograph the way people interact with each other and their environment. 

Why I want to do it:

I like big cities because I am interested in the way people live in them.  I think every single person is different and it fascinates me how so many different types of people can live together in one place and I want to capture this in my art project.

My family is from Mexico so I feel a connection with the people and the culture.  Growing up I've always loved visiting because I felt a part of me belonged there and every time I visit I am reconnected with that part of me. 

Why you want to support the project:

You will receive a gift that has images from Mexico City.  The images will be from the perspective of a female Mexican-American (me) and that is a view that is rarely seen or heard.  Also, there aren't many books or images of Mexico City available so you will get something that is rare and hard to find.

How I am going to make the art project:

I will put the drawings I make in a one sheet folded mini-book and put some of the photos I take on postcards.

• memory card $30 
• flash drive $30
• backpack $60 
• printing of the books $40
• printing of the postcards $200  

I will need a total of $400 to fund the project.
