Transitioning to life on the road + cooking up some tasty things
Greetings friends,
We can happily report that our summer tour is in full swing and that we are cooking up some tasty things. We are currently staying with an incredibly generous friend whom we met via Warmshowers.org (for those who don’t know, a bike touring version of Couch Surfing) in Portland after biking down from Victoria over the past week (and staying with a couple of Nick’s college friends living in Washington State along the way). It has been a beautiful journey thus far, among the encompassing greenery, snow capped mountain peaks, and sun-rayed seascapes as we’ve covered several hundred miles. We are hitting our stride with cooking campside from our pannier pantry and have been pleased with the quality of meals we have been able to create given the oftentimes sparse offerings of small local markets on places like Whidbey Island, Washington.
We are charting our journey via maps and blog postings on our website, pedalinn.com and are active with Twitter and Facebook for (which are easy to link to via our website). We are also posting the recipes from many of our meals via the blog when Internet connectivity permits (we have a notebook filling up with recipes and much of what we are cooking is archived in photos, if not written down on the net). It has proven difficult to update the website & blog regularly as biking and camping and cooking daily are full-time tasks, while some rest days have found us in the middle of nowhere without internet and a multitude of errands to run (eating and laundering, to name two). But you can see a stream of consciousness of what we are up to in words and photos via facebook and twitter. If you haven’t already, follow us and we’ll keep you updated. We also have been logging our miles on the daily via Cyclemeter, which pushes our route to twitter and facebook via google maps. It’s kind of a big deal. Lastly, we've been using trackmytour.com to do just that in notes and photos- check it out. More updates soon!
Cheers,
Nick + Lindy
