Why support the project?
We're in the middle of an incredible year. The Intergalactic Nemesis, Book One: Target Earth is touring to 30 different venues around the US, the project has been featured on NPR's All Things Considered and on CONAN, and the response to the show by audiences has been nothing short of amazing.
But we're sci-fi fans and as such we believe strongly in trilogies. So we're creating the first of two sequels. We're doing this for three reasons: 1) the story isn't finished. Ben and Molly's love affair had barely begun when it was tragically nullified. We want to know what happens to them! Plus, we're hungry for robots. Lots of robots! 2) we've seen the response to the Book One: Target Earth and we know people are hungry for more. We want to deliver! and 3) on a more serious note, we believe strongly in creating projects that can pay artists a living wage. This project does that.
Your pledge will specifically be used to compensate the artists for two weeks of rehearsal as we - for the first time - put together the artwork with the dialogue in a public presentation of Book Two: Robot Planet Rising. We're calling it a rough cut because we going to solicit response from the audience at the two performances and use that response to make the show the best we can make it for the world premiere which is June 8 at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin.
The actors in the rough cut are Jason Phelps, Chris Gibson, and Danu Uribe. Buzz Moran is creating the sound effects. Graham Reynolds is composing the score which will be played by Kenny Redding, Jr. Jason Neulander and Chad Nichols are the writers. David Hutchison is the artist, with coloring by Lee Duhig. Jason Neulander directs.
So, if you believe in the uniqueness of the Nemesis project, if you want the sequel to live up to the original, if you think that this whole Nemesis thing might blow up huge and you want to say you were part of the launch, and if you, like us, feel strongly about paying artists a living wage, please do pledge!
Thanks!
