The Northern was formed as an intimate, communal musical endeavor by two brothers, closer friends than they had ever been before, The Northern flourished as a meeting place and joyful communing point for diverse individuals in the NYU community, and The Northern matured as those relationships were tested, broken, healed, and made stronger than ever.

It's always been more than me; It's always been more than the music; In short, It's been you, our community.  For me, our song "All The Greatest Things" took on a magical quality when, for the first time, I heard not my voice singing the heartfelt refrain, echoing in the walls of a club, but heard the voices of those who had come - not simply to experience music - but to be a part of a community around something big, mad and beautiful.

And now The Northern needs its community more than ever. For years, we've created, analyzed, hashed out, re-written, evolved, and changed more than I can remember, and now are in the home stretch of the work that has lasted almost three years.  We are going to finish our full-length album.

We've already done most of the work ourselves, but there's a few things left we need to get done.

Mixing: $1,000

To set the levels, settle the groove, rock the guitar, ensuring everything is in its right place.

Mastering: $1,000

To place each song sonically in-line, to ensure that what is delivered to you is not only a group of good tunes, but an immaculate album that sparkles from start to finish.

Physical Duplication: $1,000

To deliver to you a finished product that is as soul-lifting, inspiring, and as beautiful in your hands as the music itself.

Total Cost: $3,000.

We've only asked for $2,000 because we've reached way down deep into our little pockets, and found that we have about 1/3 of the cost.  But we can't do it alone - we need you to help us get all of the way there.

I think back on the specific ways that each one of you has made this music possible over the last many years (making t-shirts, baking cookies, screaming loudly, etc.), I realize something.  We've never, ever done any of this on our own.  It's always been with you.
