Morbid Poetry by Christin Siems is a sardonic, hopeful play for your grown-up, sucky life.
Morbid Poetry is a play born from Christin Siems' series of poems by the same name. The play is a sardonic, hilarious and heartbreaking excavation of the ordinary. Of suicidal flies. Of dead Easter bunnies. Of seven-year-olds who insult you at the pharmacy. Ms. Siems writes with a delightfully cutting edge that sneaks up on her listeners. Morbid Poetry speaks to the un-aging adolescent living in each of us. It reminds us that sometimes it’s OK to want to murder your brother for getting away with...well...murder, and it’s OK to hope your ex-friend gets eaten by sharks on the fancy vacation she forgot to invite you to. This joyously spiteful collection of poems is assembled and made manifest by Garland Wright Directing Award winners Molly Murphy and Amelia Peterson.
In order to rent rehearsal space, hire actors and designers, and fill the Incubator Arts Project space with morbid, hopeful gloom, we need to raise at least $2,750. If you are interested in seeing this work produced, and you believe these poems should be shared with a larger audience, please consider contributing. The show opens on September 29th, and we have until September 9th to raise our funds. So give what you can, tell your friends, and help us give this work the production it needs. Because “the world needs Morbid Poetry!"

FAQ

Kickstarter uses Amazon.com to transfer the funds from our donors to our project. Our Producer, Sam Kindler, will then receive the funds and disperse them accordingly. Once you have made a donation, you will receive an email from us, thanking you for your gift.

Kickstarter motivates its fundraisers and donors with an "all or nothing" incentive. All donations are actually considered pledges until we meet our goal. If we don't reach our goal of $2,750 by midnight on September 9th, you keep your money, and we front the money for the project ourselves. This is obviously not an ideal solution, so, tell your grandma, tell your morbid cousin, tell anyone who cares about their inner teenager, and help us get this play on its feet!

Unfortunately, donations made to Morbid Poetry are not tax-deductible. We are, however, able to send letters to each donor recognizing your contribution!
