What happens when 30 + designers come together to use their talents for the good of the community?

On October 1, 2010 the Charlottesville Community Design Center and Alloy Workshop will host the 3rd Annual Design Marathon bringing together an energetic group of community-minded designers to provide 12 hours of pro bono design services to 10 deserving non-profits in the Charlottesville area. Each non-profit will be given the opportunity to collaborate with a creative team made up of local design professionals and students pursuing a design-related degree on projects ranging from branding campaigns to park and playground designs to facilities renovations.

In addition to providing non-profits with design services that enhance their ability to fulfill their respective missions, a central goal of the Design Marathon is to build community among local designers by fostering collaboration across the various design disciplines, including architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and graphic design. Funds will be used to ensure that each team of volunteer designers has everything it needs on marathon day - from caffeine to pens to plotter paper - to provide the highest quality design services to their non-profits clients while having a fun and productive experience.
