"PICK SOMETHING” is a fiction short film about sisters, marriage, politics and the struggle to accept other people's choices.

Thank you to everyone who's pledged so far... with 7 days left, we're still trying to reach the $5,000 mark so we can make this movie happen. Every little helps, so hope you will pledge and help us make this movie...

Hannah and Zoe have very different opinions about most things. Hannah, a smart, 29 year old PhD student, lives with John. Zoe, her sister, is 26, more of a free spirit, with less direction in life is getting married to Steve, who went to college with John. The film highlights the different choices we all make, and how we learn to accept other people’s decisions. In this case, marriage. Zoe is marrying Steve. Hannah thinks marriage is modern day slavery- the act of being married, not the lifetime commitment.

PICK SOMETHING is the 10 minute story of Hannah's struggle to pick a wedding present. Every gift she sees reveals a grey lining. The film raises questions about what marriage means in today's society. Hannah is conflicted because of her desire to support her sister, but her utter rejection of the decision she is making (she's writing a PhD on marraige). It's a wry look at marriage, and the traditions of 'getting married' but also, on a more basic level, it is a look at sisters, and how we choose to overcome our own beliefs and obstacles to find a way to be supportive of their decisions. There's some misheard speech about goats and dowries, and a hallucination involving an infomercial, all shot in the style of Roy Andersson's 'You, The Living".

PICK SOMETHING is a Second Year Project for NYU's prestigious Graduate Film Program, which has produced some of the world's leading independent filmmakers, from Ang Lee to Jim Jarmusch.

This film will be shot in High Definition and we are raising money to pay for locations, rental equipment, production design, production costs, and food for the cast and crew for the 5 Day shoot.
PICK SOMETHING will be shot on location in New York City, December 13-20th. The goal is to raise $5,000 of the total budget of the film via Kickstarter before December 1st so that we can make this movie happen. We need your support.

If you are interested in backing PICK SOMETHING (especially as an Executive Producer) and would like to see the Business Plan, please contact the producers, AnnaRose King (annarose.king@gmail.com) or Geoff Mansfield (geoff.mansfield@gmail.com).

Thank you for your support.

The key players:
WRITER/DIRECTOR:
Bella Wing-Davey is a writer/director from London, England who moved to New York to pursue her passion for independent film. After graduating from Cambridge University in 2007, Bella Wing-Davey worked in both short and feature film production in New York and London, before moving to New York in 2009 to write and direct her own films and attend NYU’s Graduate Film Program. She is now in her second year.

PRODUCER: ANNAROSE KING
AnnaRose King has produced several short films, music videos, and recently worked with Oliver Stone (on "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"), all while running YoungKing Productions and being a third year graduate film student at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She graduated Occidental College in Diplomacy and World Affairs with a minor in Arabic. An advocate for social justice and women's issues influences her work and participation in films as does her innate attraction to comedy.

PRODUCER: GEOFF MANSFIELD
Geoff Mansfield grew up in Hong Kong. His father is from Colorado, his mother Cuban, and yet he wound up at a German school. Suffice it to say, he’s pretty happy anywhere and with everyone. A graduate of Tufts University, Geoff worked in film and TV production in the City and as a copywriter and editor before starting at NYU. Somewhere in the midst of this he rode a bicycle across the States. He is in his second year as a dual MBA/MFA at Tisch and Stern and feels it is the greatest privilege of a fairly lucky life (see above) to somehow work making films and making people happy.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: MICHAEL ROSSETTI
