Don't Stop
Help the getdown release their music to the world!
We have been busy performing our tunes throughout NY’s capital district, and are now in the studio recording our debut album, Don’t Stop. (Listen to our demo or watch clips from Lark Tavern.) We are eager to share eleven songs of original material with you!
Key Players & Elements
The project involves several phases, including recording, mixing, mastering, artistic production, CD replication, and promotion. Some phases are already in motion, but there is still plenty more to do.
Like so many musicians these days, we are relying on a variety of do-it-yourself resources to complete our recording, and have hired a group of professionals that can help us create the album without the financial backing of a major record label.
Sloan Tash is a local sound engineer and band leader who will help us record and mix the album, as well as offering important production suggestions. Sloan is a fan of the band who knows our work well. We are stoked to be working with him.
Kevin Smith is a talented designer who will be creating our album layout and artistic design. Kevin works out-of-state, so he has agreed to collaborate with the band via online exchange.
Jason Bryer is a local photographer who has worked with the band in the past. We trust Jason's eye to photograph the band and provide original material for our album cover.
We will send the final mix-down to a mastering studio - to be determined - and 'outsource' the replication to Disc Makers.
Promo & Distribution
Once the recording, mixing, and production is finished, we will be ready to book release parties at some of our favorite capital region venues. CD's and merchandise will be available at our shows and at various local retail music outlets. We will also sell the album through online stores like iTunes, CD Baby, and other social media channels.

Based out of Albany, NY, the getdown have emerged as one of the area’s most engaging original bands. Working from their eclectic take on funk/soul/neo-R&B music, the getdown serve up a unique collection of imaginative, groove-heavy songs. Performances by the group are fueled by head-bobbin’ beats, tight instrumental interplay, and soulful, melodic vocals. The group’s old and new school influences certainly shine through, but the getdown sound remains distinctively their own. A typical set by the group features hooky funk/rock (Bodylove, 13 Blocks Away), propulsive, neo-disco ass shakers (Rays of Sunshine), and thick, wah-drenched R&B (Yours Tonight, My Brother).
