We are raising money to present a double bill of Mozart operas: Der Schauspieldirektor and Bastien und Bastienne. The performances will be June 9th and June 10th at the Hoffner Lodge (4120 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45223), a former masonic lodge converted into a magical arts space in Cincinnati's hip Northside neighborhood. Given Mozart's masonic tendencies, he would definitely approve. The performances will be free, but we will be collecting donations at the door for MYCincinnati, a new youth development program that uses classical music to change the lives of children in Price Hill.  Their website is here- http://www.pricehillwill.org/MYCincinnati

The plot of Schauspieldirektor (also known as "The Impresario") centers on a singing competition. In our production, the singers in Schauspieldirektor will be auditioning for roles in Bastien und Bastienne, which Mozart wrote when he was twelve. The plot is simple: two teenage lovers weather some relationship trouble with the help of Herr Colas, an alleged wizard.

We need funds for the orchestra, costumes, sets and sheet music. There are some pretty awesome rewards, including private performances, backstage rehearsal passes, and the chance to play a spoken role as an impresario in Der Schauspieldirektor!

Both operas will be sung in German, with dialogue between the musical numbers in English. But don't worry if you aren't deutschsprechend- we will have translations into English in the printed program and include subtitles in the video files.

The performances on June 9th will be conducted by Antoine López, starting at 8 pm with a reception at the Hoffner lodge to follow.

The performances on June 10th will be conducted by Isaac Selya, at the same time and place.
