Hey fellow 20-somethings! We need YOU and your $20 to make our next production come true!

Hey y'all! It's your old pals at Skin Horse Theater! That's right, we're still down in Nawlins churning out one crazy play after another. Right now, we're full speed ahead on our latest production, 'The Importance of Being Earnest.' This is one of our most ambitious productions to date with a big, giant moving set inspired by the wallpapers of William Morris, a gorgeous venue at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center, a whole bunch of mouthwatering Victorian props and costumes, a crazily wonderful cast, and an amazing new director, Mr. Garrett Prejean of The Elm Theater! Oh boy, this is gonna be a good one.

But we ain't there quite yet! We still need one last push to reach our full budget for the show. So... you're a 20-something, we're a 20 something, and your $20 means a lot. (And if you don't believe us, watch that video up there!)

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

For the past three years Skin Horse has been focused on creating original works in non-traditional spaces, the type of stuff that's usually referred to as "experimental theater." So for us, tackling a traditional play is a new thing. Earnest is our very first classic; with this show we return to the basics of theater. Stage. Script. Set. We've challenged ourselves to do it straight, no crazy twist or gimmick (we're not doing Earnest on Mars) but instead to focus on the intricate text and amazing characters. It is a chance for us to go back to our theater toolbox, scene work, character developement, story arc. Not to mention an actual theater.

This production is also a gamble for us monetarily-- it's the most expensive show we've ever mounted, and we're trying to put more butts in seats than ever before. We're used to packing an 80 or 100 seat house (in last year's fall production, only 20 people were allowed to attend each performance), but for Earnest we're looking at 180 seats. With 11 performance that's almost 2,000 butts. We want the word to spread on this show fast, so with your help we're going to make it as great as it can possibly be.
