What’s My Story?
I’m a 27yr old self taught corsetmaker and designer from Philadelphia. I’ve been sketching drawings of lovely ladies in elegant dresses since I was a child, and sewing for over 10 years now. In 2008, I founded Bizarre Boudoir with the purpose of creating elegant corsets for all occasions. 

I've taken courses at Philadelphia University (formerly Textiles and Science) and after a bad injury (long story that involves a cab and me walking and then waking up in the ER, what a night) and working more than one job, taking on a full coarse load seemed impossible, not to mention school tuition and rent!

So, I decided to go it alone and successfully taught myself the art of corsetry. It wasn't easy. I have spent hours reading books, forums and articles on corsetmaking, patternmaking, costuming, tailoring and more.

I think it's my love of costuming and my passion for creating clothing that makes women feel beautiful and empowered that has allowed me to endure such hard times.

What makes my corsets different from the rest?

All of my corsets are made to YOUR specifications. I offer personal fittings for local customers and an online measurements form for remote fittings. Before your final corset is completed, I first construct a mockup corset for fitting purposes where we can make any revisions to your custom pattern before starting your final corset:

The finished Corset is made of 3-4 layers: The Fashion Fabric, Interlining, and Lining. I use steel busks and a combination of Spiral Steel and Flat Steel Boning for maximum comfort and shaping. 

My specialty is custom longline or longhip corsets (such as the Baroness) since it seems it is sometimes harder to find them when searching for a corset. Longlines provide the most hip coverage and support for women with curvy or voluptuous shapes and is one of the styles that is most flattering for all figures. My favorite, because it gives such a beautiful hourglass shape!

What I want to do?
In the last 2 yrs I’ve noticed an increase in the demand for my designs, so much so that I decided to start sewing full time. Now, I’m faced with the challenge of creating a new collection to showcase in boutiques while simultaneously running an online business from home. Not an easy task!
This is where you come in! I need your help to get Bizarre Boudoir to the next level. What I would like to do is temporarily halt operations so that I can focus on this new collection of Corsets & Accessories.

How I plan to do it: I have patterns and design sketches already completed, what I need now are the tools and the time to focus on production! To make this collection possible I need adequate work space, high quality fabric, corsetmaking supplies, hardware, and a reliable industrial sewing machine capable of withstanding long hours of sewing. I’m also actively looking for an assistant with great attention to detail to assist in various aspects of the design process, as well as marketing and event promotion.

My New Collection: The inspiration for this collection is the process of Transformation and Evolution. A blend of old and new influences with a futuristic twist, symbolic of taking Bizarre Boudoir into a new direction. It consists of newly drafted Overbust and Underbust Corset styles with longer hip lines. Longer hip lines provide more coverage and support for curvaceous ladies and enhance the hourglass shape that we all love.
The collection also includes all new Bizarre Boudoir accessories: Corset Harnesses, Holsters, Shrugs, Capelets and Jackets. Samples of each design will be created along with sizable patterns. This makes larger scale production possible so I can get my designs in stores!
