Update #8: Final Update Before Reward Packages (We Promise!)
Hello Kickstarter Backers!
This will be the final update you receive before reward packages arrive in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we wanted to give you all an update on what some key members of the cast and crew have been up to over the last few months!
Director Calvin Main is currently in pre-production on his senior thesis project: a full-length feature film entitled Two Hearts. Following graduation from Brown University in the spring, Calvin plans to move to Los Angeles and pursue his dream of becoming a feature film director. After a brief venture into the corporate world of NYC, director of photography Miles Goldman has returned to his passion for film. He is currently working on extending his portfolio in the hopes of beginning a graduate degree in filmmaking in the near future. Producer Seicha Turnbull is employed by a television production company in Manhattan called DiGa, where she works in development of new programs as well as management of ongoing projects.
Actors Emily Kassie and Dennis Kozee are experiencing continued success in their acting careers. Logan Mutz has not acted for the screen since Whole Grain, but he is currently developing some of his short stories into a screenplay. Alexandra Watson is pursuing an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University. Her graduate school encompasses writing, visual art, film and theater. She is hoping to collaborate with students in the film division of Columbia’s School of the Arts to participate in their projects and continue acting. Writer Kathleen Braine also lives in Manhattan, where she is pursuing her writing as well.
Co-Producers Esther Park and Alexis Aurigemma now play large roles at BTV; Esther is one of two production directors, and Alexis has been promoted to co-head of station! They both continue to produce and direct BTV projects.
Overall, Brown University Student Television has benefitted greatly from the production of Whole Grain, most notably in the strengthening of the BTV Screenwriting Contest and in the development of a positive relationship with the AVON Theatre for future Brown University student screenings. We are glad to have promoted high-quality student work at the station and to have raised awareness of the budding student film scene at Brown.
Be on the lookout for your reward packages soon! We will be in touch if we have any more questions concerning shipping.
Update #7: Packages Almost Ready!
Hello Backers!
We wanted to make sure you know we haven't forgotten you, and give you an update on the status of rewards packages. The film has recently gone through the final stages of editing, and now is ready for public release! For the next week, anyone can view a small, low-res version of Whole Grain on the BrownTV website (www.browntv.org/shorts/whole-grain/), where it is temporarily available for the purposes of BTV member recruitment and raising awareness of the BrownTV Screenplay Competition.
For those of you who donated at the $25 level or above, an HD version of the film will be available for exclusive download this week! This version can be formatted for viewing on televisions, computers, or mobile devices and will be yours to keep. Instructions and a password for download will be provided to you via email in the next few days.
We are also in the process of finalizing the DVD for $50+ donors, packed with bonus features! These features include a Making Of documentary, trailers and promos for the film, and a commentary track featuring director Calvin Main, director of photography Miles Goldman, and producer Seicha Turnbull (plus more!). All other reward material promised will be shipped when the DVDs are pressed and finished.
We look forward to delivering these packages to all of our loyal donors in the coming weeks, and please be on the lookout for news about film festival submissions!
-Miles Goldman
