THE STORY
Tragedy finds young Rashad on what starts off as an unusual morning. After discovering the death of his mother, Rashad has to assume authority in a matter of moments to be a support system for his younger brother. As the pressure begins to weigh on him, Rashad must learn how he will evolve from adolescence.
Set in present day New York City, SLEEP is an intimate film about the loss of innocence and the psychological effects of death on the minds of young children.
The film will be shot all on location in New York over a period of three days. It is a beautifully written story that deserves to be told. We could use all of the support that we can get.
WHO THE HELL IS DONALD CONLEY
I am a young, hungry filmmaker that is quite anxious to tell personal stories through the visual medium. SLEEP is my third short film. My second film, Underbelly, was about a bond between a young male and a sex worker formed through artistic expression. Underbelly screened at several festivals across the country, including Sarasota Film Festival and the New York Latino International Film Festival. I am a man with a lot of love to offer and much ground to cover. I laugh a lot. I've been told that I have soft eyes. I show that I'm thinking. I've worked in the industry on countless television productions; one experience being working as an assistant for NBC's hit primetime sitcom 30 Rock. I am an artist that would love to share this story with you.
WHY YOU?
It takes a village to shoot a film. That was an old African parable I learned which turns out to be true. We are receiving a few favors and in-kind donations but the production needs your help. The funds will go to:

Meaning, I do not make the movie that I'd love to share with you all. So, anything you can give will be much appreciated. I am an alumnus of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. I received a Bachelor’s of Arts for my study of and concentration in film and television production. SLEEP is my third short film. My first film, Kareem’s Next Education, was about a father’s attempt to explain sexual relations to his eleven-year old son. Underbelly, my second film, was about a bond between a young male and a prostitute formed through artistic expression. Underbelly screened at several festivals across the country, such as Sarasota Film Festival and the New York Latino International Film Festival. I’ve worked on countless film, commercial and television projects, including working as an assistant on the hit NBC primetime sitcom, 30 Rock. I like short walks to my front door and anything hot and edible on a plate.
