Millie's Big Day is the true tale of Millie, a sweet English Setter, who has shown both children and adults that even though there may be many "bad days" in life, there may just be a "good day" when it's least expected.
The book will also have a link to a website that will contain stories and photos submitted by readers about their dogs.
While writing this children's book, I spoke with a variety of people who had adopted animals and found that many felt they were the ones that benefited most from getting their pet. Whether they were ordinary people, those with special needs, returning servicemen, or folks coping with the loss of a loved one, all told amazing stories of how much their dog had meant to their health and well being.
By illustrating Millie's journey, I hope to show children and adults alike how adding a pet to their family can enrich their lives.
USE OF FUNDS
Although I have already expended my own resources to design and illustrate the book and the linked website, further funds are needed to print and distribute it.
In addition to getting the book out to the general public, I also plan to e-publish it for internet purchase.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Many of the risks and challenges have been overcome during the last year and a half. They include researching and developing the story and interviewing and finding an illustrator to collaborate with. Now the challenge is to get the book printed and distributed to as broad a base as possible so that the plight of these animals and the chance to overcome obstacles is made clear to the reader. I plan to continue writing stories like this based on submissions of readers of this book.
