A contemporary love story presented through an innovative platform that spans the gap between the printed word and a film production.
Times are changing! Even for those of us who love to read books. Up to now we've had to read a book and use our imagination to visualize what the author was describing. So, a lot depended on an author's ability to describe a scene or an act, as well as our ability to connect it with something in our experience. On the other hand we can watch the movie and bypass our imagination. Of course that presupposes that a film has been made and depends on how well it was done.
Soon after my novel 'Currents of Destiny' was published, I was alerted to a web site that Google had created for my book where anyone could read excerpts from it and decide whether or not to buy it. However, there was an added feature: Google included a map of the world with pins on the cities and towns where the novel's action took place. Anyone could then click on a pin and be taken to see and explore that place. Wow! Readers could judge for themselves whether or not my descriptions were good.
With my new novel, 'Love in Our Time of Crisis'
I'm taking this to the next level, because I believe it's the wave of the future with books, including fiction novels. This novel will have about a hundred places, marked for the reader, where he or she can click on a preset list within Google Earth and be transported instantly to the very place the story is describing. And you can explore the area, like a tourist or a sleuth. It's not mandatory; you can skip it. But if you are curious, there it is. Whether it's a house, a road, an alley; in an English village or an Egyptian Bazaar. Wherever! A murder scene, an idyllic place for a romantic tryst; you now have a choice: rely on your imagination or satisfy your curiosity.
My novel is 80% done, and it would have been finished had I not decided to do it in this exciting new way. Time, effort, cost and technical logistics all went up, but I'm convinced the results will be worth it. With your pledge, this project will be completed sooner rather than later and it will break new ground into a fascinating literary future that will finally fill that void between the printed word and the total visual medium of a film production .
