On the way home from Winnipeg Fringe Festival

Update #6 · Jul 30, 2012 · 1 comment

Hello Generous Backers!

Today I finished my last show at 4:30pm here in Winnipeg and head home tomorrow.  It has been quite an adventure in this Canadian Prairie Provence!  The people here are lovely and they love their annual Fringe Festival.  Many folks take two weeks "holiday" just to see as many shows as they can.  My venue was in the Manitoba Museum and had 175 seats.  Unfortunately, since I got panned by the local newspaper my first show, audiences tended to gravitate to 4 and 5 star shows.  My average house was about 20.  Those who came to the show enjoyed it and I did get some great reviews by the audiences in the comment section of my panned review.  I got another great review in a local daily, which I will paste below.

Despite the unfavourable (yes, I write Canadian now) review, I had a great time performing, meeting fellow artists and seeing a bunch shows.  There were 172 to choose from!  The woman who put me up (my Billet) was super sweet and we had fun seeing shows together.  Her cat, Mocha, and I got very close and in the end we were sleeping together!

I'm headed home for two weeks and then off to Edmonton for their Festival. We will see how MY THREE MOMS does up there, a couple of Provences over. I will keep you posted.

Meanwhile, check out this great review of MY THREE MOMS by Winnipeg's Jenny Revue.

Thanks so much for your support for my Canadian tour!

Bye for now,

One more great review from Orlando!

Update #5 · May 31, 2012 · comment

Hey Folks,

I'm back home in NYC from a fabulous fringe festival experience in Orlando.  I received another wonderful review in the Orlando Sentinel, which I wanted to share with you:

Here's the link:  Orlando Fringe Festival: Orlando Fringe Festival My Three Moms - Orlando Sentinel

Winnipeg and Edmonton are gearing up for their festivals and I'm busy putting together a new press release, posters and postcards.  Oh, and there's all these Canadian forms I have to fill out "cause I'm a foreigner!

Thank you again for all your support and helping me make this happen!

Much gratitude,

Virginia

MY THREE MOMS in Orlando!

Update #4 · May 23, 2012 · comment

Hello Generous Backers!

It's 95 degrees down here and I've done 4 shows already at the Orlando International Fringe Festival.  I've had standing ovations for the last couple of shows, and wow, what a feeling that is!  No, there were no tacks on their seats, they really loved it!

I got my first review so far and I'm honored to mentioned in the same article as Tennessee Williams!  Doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks to you, I have a rental car, food in my belly and money for sunscreen!

I hope everyone is doing well and has fun plans for the holiday weekend.

I'll keep you posted on the latest MY THREE MOMS adventures!

With love and gratitude,

Virginia

A lot can happen in 24 hours!

Update #3 · May 9, 2012 · comment

Hello again my generous backers!

We've got about 24 hours to meet my goal and I've gotten so much encouragement from folks who told me tonight that a lot can happen in 24 hours.  Yes, it takes 24 hours—a solar day—for Earth to complete a full rotation about its axis relative to the Sun so that the Sun returns to the meridian.  Wow.  If that happens, think what else can happen....

Tonight, I went to a special screening of a film that I shot this summer with the wonderful director, Ira Sachs.  He funded part of his film via Kickstarter and folks were so morally supportive of my project and know that it can happen.  People come together in the final hours and goals are reached.  I am not giving up hope until the fat lady sings in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Thank you so much for all of your support and I could not have gotten this far without you.  I am truly grateful to you!  I would love for you to pass this on to your friends and family and I'll bet they would love to go with MY THREE MOMS on the road!

Ok,  I've got to get back to putting Orlando labels on old postcards that I had left over from my NY performances last year.  I am loving all the preparation for my first Festival stop, Orlando!

Much love and gratitude, and remember:  A lot can happen in 24 hours!

Orlando Fringe opens in 14 days!

Update #2 · May 2, 2012 · comment

Hello Wonderful Backers!

The Orlando Fringe Festival opens May 16th and I will be doing a "preview performance" on opening night, along with 26 other out of town shows.  It will be only three minutes of my one hour show, but it will give the Floridian Festival Folks a nice slice of MY THREE MOMS.  Here's more info:  www.orlandofringe.org

I've also been contacted by a writer for an Orlando online paper who wants to do a preview article about my show.  I'm so honored and thrilled!

I've still been tweaking the show with my director, Leslie Collins, and this week we will nail down the version I will take to Orlando.  Leslie's insights are so wonderful and I know the latest version of my show will be the best ever!!

Frightfully, I have only eight days left to meet my goal, and I am not giving up!  I am 57% funded and am reaching out to everyone I know (and don't know) to be a part of the MY THREE MOMS tour.  I so appreciate all of your support, and if you have friends or family who would like to donate, please pass this along!  I need all the help I can get to make my goal by May 11th.

I couldn't have gotten this far without you!

With love and gratitude,

Virginia
