Renegades
No film is done by one person. There was a plague of WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/ACTORS in the past, when indie films were becoming the rage (raise a glass) but overall the majority of that kind of work is pretty sub standard in the and toward the bad end of the bell curve of entertainment value.
SKATER 26, even for a small fim has a number of talented individuals that pulled hard, some still pulling, to make this happen. So I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce the band.
Well there's Turner Van Ryn and Me. Director and Producer, and neither one of us wants to do the other ones job. It was our crazy idea from the start, that blossomed into something very cool with the help of an amazing crew.
Tobi Wettstein and Colin Del Rossi are our main cameras. Whatever credit you want to attach to them, they did a fantastic job with lensing. But they weren't alone. Since we were running and gunning with sometimes four cameras others delivered some great footage. Ben Mcdaniel, who will be mentioned later as well, was an awesome third eye. Rachel Dusa and Katherine Brennen shot some amazing footage under very hectic circumstances. Our chief editor, Nate Wanzek also shot some great stuff.
Sound on location was captured by Ben McDaniel and Jason Skipper. A chaotic sound environment was challenging to make it seem cohesive in the end product.
Putting the hours and hours and hours of footage together was a labor of Turner, Ben and Nate. Cutting, recutting, adding footage, subtracting, rearranging. Making the piece work in the way Turner and I had envisioned (along with adding their own professional viewpoints and occasionally slapping Turner and I in the back of the head).
The sound in post production. Mr Ben Mcdaniel. Have I mentioned that guy. He scored the film, beautifully. Though we have work to do, it's almost there. Ben also gave us a rock solid foundation of Sound Design. We're completing that in June.
Not to mention all the people who helped us by lending us equipment, time, sanity. The Bay Area Derby girls and particularly Chantilly Mace for letting us follow her around, and be in her face for the better part of a year.
That's right, the initial idea for this came about Late 2010. Were 18 months invested in this thing. This wonderful crazy thing. Let's you and us finish it together.
