We are a small farm-to-table restaurant in Northeast PA dedicated to local and sustainable cooking from our own kitchen garden.
Old Tioga Farm is a small farm and restaurant in Northeastern Pennsylvania dedicated to sustainable agriculture and local farm-to-table cooking, with most of our ingredients coming directly from our own kitchen garden and neighboring farms. Our aim is to provide our guests with exquisite cooking in a rural setting.
Open monthly and with extra dates throughout the summer, Old Tioga Farm seeks to raise funds for three small interrelated projects: one in the kitchen, one in the dining room, and one in the kitchen garden.
We founded Old Tioga Farm in 2007, inspired by an experience we had near Cremona, Italy in 2005. We were working and living on a farm which milked cows and produced artisan cheeses, but which also opened its large manor house on occasion for a restaurant dinner. We loved this idea of a restaurant as an extension of a farm. When we purchased a 19th century farmhouse and property in 2007, we immediately knew it would be suitable for a similar pursuit.
After making renovations and acquiring a restaurant license, we opened our doors in January of 2008. Since then, we've been humbled to find our events sold out months in advance, with guests coming from as far as New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
So far, we've survived on a shoe-string budget, but now we would like to pursue several projects that will allow us to maintain the excellence our customers have come to expect.
In the kitchen, we need to increase our limited cooking space by adding an additional stove, range hood, and related equipment.
In the dining room, we need to purchase new furniture to replace the worn, antique tables and chairs we started with.
In the garden, we need to build a small greenhouse to supply us with greens and hardy vegetables in the coldest months.
Each of these projects costs around $2000, for a total of $6000, and we're hoping to raise at least $4000 as seed money through kickstarter.com.
We've been humbled by the support and praise our little restaurant has earned so far, and we're eager to continue to improve on the experience of our customers. We thank you in advance for your consideration and donation.
