America. Adventure. Love.

The cross-country quest is a classic theme in America's literary and cultural history. The rail system was the first mode of transit to reliably link east to west. And, if you've ever been in it, you probably know that love conquers all.

In January, I will be riding Amtrak cross country from NYC to California. As I travel, I'll be documenting my journey, which will reunite me with my fiance, in a variety of ways.

First and foremost, I'll be writing. I'll keep a detailed diary of the places I see, people I meet and adventures I have on the rails. I'll scribble notes. I'll tell stories. I'll write postcards to friends and family, new and old.

I'll also be taking pictures. Hundreds and hundreds of pictures. Mountains. Cities. Friends. Strangers. You'll have a chance to see it all.

Finally, I'll write songs about travel and love and maybe even trains.

To document this massive journey, I need your help! Your support will help me produce prints, recordings and one big printed multimedia book that will house all the writing, songs and photos in one glorious place.

The country's expansive and inspiring. My goal is to use a wide array of creative formats to document this journey the way it deserves to be documented, with range and breadth. I hope you'll come along with me in whatever way you can. Your presence will make the journey less lonely and I hope that what I create will make you feel like you’re traveling beside me, learning new things, seeing new faces and watching all that big, beautiful scenery pass before your eyes.
