About this project

Flaneur Foundry is an small, independent press that releases an all-arts journal each year. I began the project when I first moved to NYC in 2009 because I wanted to be able to see all the work of my talented friends in one place. It has evolved in ways I cannot describe in such a short time, and I have never been more sure that this press should continue for as long as art and I co-exist. The work has spanned every conceivable art form - writing, photos, essays, collages, sheet music and even videos and new media on the website - and it comes from friends and strangers, amateurs and professionals, around the globe.

For the past three years, all expenses have been paid out of pocket (much of it from hard earned cash, a few dips into my student loans,a small art fund from my late grandmother, as well as a great deal of help from my immensely supportive mother, Mary Thorpe). While supporting and promoting the arts is of the utmost importance to me, and I have never sought to make a profit from this project, it has become increasingly difficult to come up with the funding to print these books (as well as ship them around the world). At this point, not only have I never broke even, but I have gone into a great deal of debt. I don't regret it for a minute, but in order to continue this project, I need a little help. You might have noticed that there is one issue per year... and 2011's issue has yet to appear. This is strictly a financial problem - the book itself is complete but has yet to be printed. [much love and gratitude to thee guest editor Christopher Todd Alamo Schuman of THEE BEEHIVE fame] This campaign is being run as a pre-order system - if you donate $20+, you will be basically ordering one or more copies and your money will go towards printing those copies and shipping them out to you. All the money from this campaign goes directly to printing and shipping costs. Anything else that I do (making shirts and tote bags, stickers, throwing a release party, etc.) will be out of pocket, because the priority is to print and ship the book. If we can raise the $600 needed to print 100 copies of this book,  the 2011-ish issue will not be lost!

PLEASE support independent art and donate today! Take a look at the website, see past issues, and check out the line-up for the 2011-ish issue 'I CAN'T FEEL MY FACE' :::
