In August of 1998 I was diagnosed with a cerebellum brain tumor. At the age of thirteen I underwent brain surgery. Though the tumor was successfully removed, the surgery was followed by years of physical and occupational therapy. 

The money raised by this campaign will be used to self-publish Confessions of a Brain Tumor Survivor, a detailed account of my diagnosis, surgery, and recovery.

Confessions of a Brain Tumor Survivor will also be offered on several different eBook formats and I will be recording an audio book version. 

I’m writing this book thirteen years after my diagnosis. At twenty-six years old my life has been evenly split in half by the period of time before the tumor and years spent since. No other incident has had such a profound impact on my life. Over a decade later, the lasting effect of my surgery is still something I struggle with on a daily basis. 

Our memory dulls with each passing year and as we age we’re bound to forget the little details. It’s important I document my experiences now; the timing is right. If I waited any longer to write this book I might forget something important. If I started this book any earlier I wouldn’t be able to place the surgery in its correct context.

The self-publishing process is very familiar to me as I used a print-on-demand service for my first book, Assorted Poems and Purple Prose, a collection of short stories and poetry.
