My newest film is already scheduled for exhibitions in several cities in 2013. We are shooting in January in Berlin, Germany!

It all started with a journey to Kosovo weeks after the war had ended.

The Same Moon Everywhere

Back in the sweltering summer of 2001 I was in Kosovo making a documentary about life after the war. I climbed into a Red Cross jeep in the capital city, Pristina, and traveled to a small border town.

I was there to see a play called “Little Red Riding Hood in Danger,” meant to teach kids about the dangers of land mines scattered throughout the countryside.

Before the performance, I met a young girl about her life in the small town. Afterwards, I looked for her again, but she had disappeared. I never made that documentary. The same moon everywhere is about that moment.

Just about now in Berlin, Germany, a dark-haired woman steps into an echoing hallway carrying a bronze sculpture. She sings Albanian songs to herself as she works in an art library.

The Same Moon Everywhere is a 20 minute film shot in 16mm and HD video.  It combines live-action and hand-drawn stop-motion animation. I have a strong team: the talented Albanian actor Ema Ndoja and gifted cameraman Sebastian Krügler signed onto the project.

We are shooting in January 2013! With your contribution, you're not only supporting me but supporting a collaborative effort that's already scheduled to be shown in solo exhibitions at galleries in Berlin and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Here's what your support will provide:

-We have camera and action, but we need some lights! Your contribution will enable us to rent good lighting equipment for the shoot

-It'll also help us get people, gear, and props to the location.

-The 16mm film elements need to look amazing. To do this, I'll be sending the film for processing and have it professionally transferred to high definition video for the project.

-To have a great film, you need great sound. I'll also be recording a voice-over in a sound studio and hiring engineers to do a sound mix of the final film.

If we raise more funds than our goal, all of it will be put directly into the project; additional funds will allow me to complete the film even more quickly, and will enable me to give the cast and crew more support for their work. Thanks!
