In the persona of Cheyne Stokes, a 5'11" cockroach, I will be recreating Elvis Presley's last recorded concert live in Las Vegas.

The Project:
I will be recreating Elvis Presley’s last recorded performance, the Rapid City, SD concert recorded for the posthumously released CBS special Elvis: Live in Concert (June 21, 1977, 1hr). This will be done in the character of Cheyne Stokes, a 5’ 11” tall cockroach. The interpretation will strive for accuracy of the vocal and physical inflections of Elvis’ original performance, but will be performed a capella in prosthetic makeup. The concert will be recorded in order to produce a concert film and “documentary” of Cheyne Stokes.
I should stress that I do not intend this as an Elvis impersonation. My interest lies in exploring the wild swings between rote, ecstatic abandon, and melancholy introspection evident in this performance as he alternately distances himself from and tries to win over his audience. The concert will be performed as part of the closing ceremonies of the Las Vegas Contemporary Art Center’s Off the Strip New Genres Festival in the Downtown Cocktail Room.

I am raising money in order to assist with the following expenses:
Airfare for myself and a videographer
mold making and costuming supplies
food/lodging expenses for thee videographer, assistant (for applying prosthetics), and myself

If I am lucky enough to feel your love rain down upon me in excess, additional funds will be allocated to:
additional videographers for increased coverage
reimbursement for videographer and assistant who have been kind enough to donate their service
