Hello there, illustrious backers!
The Back in the Soviet Bloc team have been posting progress updates via our facebook page, but we've recently been reminded that - shock, horror - not everyone on Planet Earth has a facebook account.
So here's a little message to keep everyone up-to-date.
We've now been editing for 6 months, and we estimate that there's around 3 months of work left. We started with 57 hours of footage, and after considerable deliberation, we decided to transform this into 11 x 26 minute episodes. (It's 26 minutes long rather than 30, as broadcasters need time between shows for ads.)
The footage has all been condensed into useable pieces, and each episode has been chopped down to at least the "assemble edit" stage. You could say there's a spectrum of completeness; the polish of each episode ranges from "rough" to "finished".
Once the entire series has been edited, voiceovers recorded, music written, sound mixed, graphics animated, and colours graded, we'll then upload each episode to a website, and allow potential broadcasters to view the series. Thanks to the positive reaction we've received thus far, we're quietly confident that we'll sell the show, and that it will be beamed into lounge rooms in 2013.
We will keep you posted regarding the progress of your rewards. You're all very important to us, as you've given this project a genuine kickstart, so we look forward to visiting Australia Post with a pile of cds, dvds, and a long mailing list.
Finally, we've launched a website:
Feel free to post this on facebook (if you have a profile that is), and tell your friends to stay tuned! And if you'd like a sneak preview of the show's opening credits sequence, simply play the video on the main page. We've combined the opening with our original trailer, creating a brand spanking new one.
Thanks for your patience Kickstarters, and stay in touch!
