"OCONOMOWOC" is a feature length narrative about a confused adult who moves back in with his mother and reluctantly signs on with his friend's mishandled t-shirt business hoping to find a little direction. At the heart of this film is a force of rambling ideas gone wrong. It's about how hilariously fascinating people's interests, or lack thereof, can be. I've come to realize that none of us really know what the hell is going on, or, for that matter, the best direction to the place where we think we belong. This idea of "someplace" has always made me laugh, because all of us are trying to get somewhere, or maintain some state of mind. So, we decided to make a dislocated story about dislocated identity and about how people, ideas, and dreams shape what we seem to believe. 

This movie had been floating around my head for many years, and finally, we were fortunate enough to gather a group of incredibly talented and open individuals who were interested in helping me put together a comedy about mishandled ideas.

Somehow, we pulled it off--making the movie that is--but now we have to get the finished product out to the public. So, we're reaching out to the Kickstarter community for two reasons: one, to share our project with the world. And two, to raise money so we can gain the proper exposure in order to share the project with the world. We've decided the best way to accomplish this for a no-budget indie film like ours is to hit the film festival circuit. Unfortunately, this is where things get rather pricey, but I guess following your dreams typically do.

We need some additional help from you to complete our awesome journey. This is truly a do-it-yourself project that has spanned over a year and a half now. We have overseen and completed every stage of the project on our own, from funding the project on credit cards to composing an original soundtrack, from writing, directing, and acting, to convincing forty plus cast and crew members that this was worth their heart and time for no pay. We have already launched off that cliff sometime ago and the free fall has been revelatory, but the anticipatory landing is within legs reach. The film is done, but the festivals are the final stage of the process and we cannot do it without you.

Synopsis:

Oconomowoc is an absurd comedy about Lonnie Washington (Brendan Marshall-Rashid), a bright twenty-something without any clear idea for his future. When faced with moving back home, he ambivalently teams up with his old best friend (Andy Gillies) for an impractical t-shirt business.

Amid their differing priorities and illusions of success, the friends' future begins to take shape when they unexpectedly meet a lively girl (Cindy Pinzon) who mockingly diagnoses Lonnie's life predicament as mere self-importance.

The hopeless business struggles to develop until a twelve year old (Kruz Karstedt) steals the boy's fateful ideas turning them to gold. The newly found talent is just enough to send the fledgling men reeling for answers to a business deal gone bad.

The boy's plot a pointless revenge landing them in more trouble than bargained for, leaving them to realize that sometimes life's short-comings are just life worth living.
