About this project
BE FASHIONABLE – SUPPORT AMERICAN DESIGN! I want to promote that as much as possible and I hope you will join me in my effort to enforce the message. This subject is very near and dear to my heart as I’ve been working in the world of fashion in NYC for nearly two decades and have been witness to its slow, but steady demise. A year ago, I branched off and left the world of corporate design to launch my own label – right here on Kickstarter!
Now, I am gearing up for my Spring 2012 Collection which I have titled, the “Biohazard Collection." When my product is placed in stores, I will make every effort to manufacture in NYC. The cost will be higher than Asia, but the quality will be 100X better.
The concept behind the collection stems from the chaos happening in the world, from the economy to all of the natural disasters that have recently occurred (and will continue to do so). The need to start dressing for protection is inevitable and our wardrobes will have to be fashionable AND functional -- think “chic hazmat” gear!
This season, I'm holding my show in a music venue and it will actually be part of a concert! Sound exciting? Well, get involved and be a part of my spring line! Sponsor the collection and you will not only be privy to inside information and frequent updates on the progress of the collection, but you will also receive lots of cool gifts and, best of all, my undying love and affection!!
The funds collected will be used to cover the cost of the fabrics, models, photographer, hair & make-up team, venue, promotional products, etc. There are endless costs involved in putting this kind of a production together, so any amount is appreciated! After working in New York City's garment center for fifteen years, designer Stacy Lomman set out on her own debuting her signature collection during New York's Spring 2011 Fashion Week. She launched the collection using Kickstarter and when she reached her project goal, The Huffington Post contacted the designer to conduct a video interview about the idea of raising funds through social media. Stacy was featured in Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), Lookonline and LIFE.com. In fact, a dress from her debut collection was selected as one of LIFE’s “Thirty Sexy Runway Moments" from Spring 2011. Her Fall 2011, 'French Resistance' and Spring 2012, 'Biohazard' collections were well received and helped the designer earn a spot as a finalist for The Fashion Group International's "Rising Star Awards" in womenswear for 2012. None of this would have been possible without Kickstarter!!
