D-Town Brass (your friendly psychedelic jungle-jazz dance band) has recorded an album. Help us put it out by pre-ordering your copy!
D-Town Brass has two albums almost ready to go.
The first is a collection of our early recordings, performed live starting in summer 2008 to summer 2010 in the rattly echo chamber of a certain Durham restaurant. They have a charming innocence and a let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may recording approach that still resulted in some great, energetic recordings. This will be released as a CD only.
The second is a more careful recording job with a more experienced band. We set up with a nice multitrack tape machine in a disused factory in downtown Durham. Veteran sound engineer Jerry Kee came out to record us, and the result is a rich, detailed and beautiful sounding album. This has been mixed to 2-track tape and will be sent directly to the vinyl pressing plant to make 12" LP records. A-A-A for all you audio geeks out there. A digital download will also be available.
We had saved up enough band money to pay for everything up to the point of recording and mixing the album, but now we just need some moneys to print CD's & records. That's where you come in. Pre-order either or both of our records and we'll send them directly to you. Or if you want to be a true supporter of the arts, feel free to donate, too. Preferably in large amounts.
D-Town Brass is a unique musical experience, one whose existence seems (even to us, at times) nearly impossible. Every time we do a show or record a song I'm amazed by so many things: the level of musicianship, the willingness of so many people to show up for no monetary gain, the beauty (and ugliness) of the sounds we create together. Please help us get our signal out a little further into the world by pre-ordering! Thank you.

If this project doesn't reach it's funding goals a renegade planetoid will enter Earth's orbit, disrupting all psychic activities in the northern hemisphere, spilling one cocktail at every party and increasing the incidence of erectile disfunction in feral cats. Also, pop music will get EVEN WORSE, the Rolling Stones will go on tour yet a-fucking-gain and Mitt Romney will crap on your lawn.
