Please consider helping to fund my residency to produce a new body of work at Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts this summer.
I have been accepted to the highly esteemed summer residency program at Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts. While at the Archie Bray, I will interact with a high level of peer dialogue and will meet with internationally celebrated artists. All of this will affect me and I will produce a new body of work.
The work will focus primarily on closing gaps of distance metaphorically, poetically and ultimately physically. Often, an artist must sacrifice in order to make the work they must. However wonderful this opportunity, I will be distanced from my new young family: my husband working in Corvallis toward a Ph. D and my Pico pup, family in Wisconsin and Arkansas and friends spread about. In order to close the distances, I will provide friends and family with a working title and ask that they draw on the subject and then send it back to me in Montana. I will then respond to the sketch by producing a sculpture. Currently, I am looking for possible venues to show this new unmade body of work.
The guidelines of the Kickstarter program require that the funding goal be met in order to receive any funding at all. For this reason, I have intentionally set the funding goal lower ($1200) than the total ($3200) I am trying to raise in hopes that it will make.
FAQ

Porcelain gumballs are the little spike textured objects in the last two frames of the video. They're made by slip-dipping the seed pods of the sweet gum tree. In Arkansas, where I first encountered the seed pods, the natives call them gumballs.
