Start a professional theatre company in the West San Fernando Valley. A pop. of approx. 500,000 people, and no theatre company. Nope, none. Nada.

UPDATE!
So...Yay everyone! It looks like we're going to make our goal and get funded! Fantastic! PLEASE don't stop now! We set our goal at 2500.00 because we were a bit scared that if we didn't reach our goal, we wouldn't get funding....but here's the deal....we really need a lot more. ( 7000.00 ) Whoa, you say....that's a lot! Heck yeah it is! That is why it's important to support theatre all you can. It is expensive to produce, and doesn't make a lot of money in return. But, let's not even try to imagine a world without the arts. So....to all our donors...THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts for helping us add our voice to the chorus!

Goethe said "Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."

1. 3Monkeys is a new theatre company in Woodland Hills, Ca. We are currently applying to incorporate as a Non Profit corp. in the state of California...which is good news for everyone who donates because we will be able to get you that tax deduction...in about two - three months! We are busy establishing ourselves as a professional acting company, even though we will be operating under Equity's special 99 seat plan, which means the actors are being allowed to work for peanuts...or in our case, bananas! We are currently converting our existing acting studio into a viable theatre AND have scheduled an opening night for our inaugural production of DOG SEES GOD; CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD, at the same time! Yay!

2. Why are we here on KICKSTARTER.COM? Well, turning the acting studio into a usable theatre space is going to cost a lot of money. But, it's not impossible! And to put the play on is also going to cost a lot of money. But, it's not impossible! So, to make it good and hard, we scheduled the opening for June 18th....this year. Which means, we've only got 37 days to raise the money to do it.

3. That's where you come in! Your donation will not only allow us to convert the space, and build a set, publicize our show and hire actors at a fraction of their worth....but, it will literally kickstart our theatre company. You see, once we have the space....paint, lights, seating, masking curtains, sound proofing etc. we can continue with our next production at a fraction of the cost. So, we can be a real theatre company with an actual season! But that's not all...we also have a very fine group of students age 10 and up, who will benefit from our professional company. We will become a teaching theatre, involving our students in backstage as well as onstage work AND we will be able to offer quality scholarships to young actors with financial hardship to attend our Film and Television Actor's program. ALSO, we are already taking submissions for our New Voices series for new playwrights and screenwriters AND planning "Inside The Actors Studio" type interview nights with celebrities and local film Directors and producers which will be open to our community and free to our students. On TOP OF ALL THIS, we currently offer free teaching space for American Sign Language classes and other community oriented classes for adults and children! Yay us!

It's all very exciting, and this will make such an impact on our community as a whole, as well as on our community of young actors, who will now have a place to study, to network and to showcase their talents!!! Yay them!

4. AND THIS IS IMPORTANT......Did I mention that we really need your support? We have set our goal at 2500.00 mainly because, if we don't make it to the goal, we don't get any of the money, right? In other words, your credit card won't be debited until we make our 2500.00 goal within the allocated time. If we are even 1 dollar short, we don't get any of it! Oh no! So....please, give what you can, and don't stop at 2500.00! We really need a lot more! Do I sound like a greedy beeotch? I am so not, I promise you. This money will be used for providing as many services to this community and this corps of actors that I can possibly make happen. I know you can make it happen. Yay you!

Here is a short synopsis of our first production, Dog Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal.

"If you ever wondered what happened to Charlie Brown and the gang, "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" is the behind-the-music sob story of the beloved Peanuts crew. The play is an unauthorized parody that takes the Peanuts characters from the Charles Schulz comic strip and places them 10 years into the future, smack dab in the middle of high school. "

THE STORY: When CB's dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group's bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful.
